Burmese believe in Spirits called Nats. This spirits although mostly humans from the past who experienced a violent death can also be natural objects or animals. Nats can possess people with different results depending on the Nat. In the image the young girls are believed to have been posed by an angry dragon Nat; hens their uncontrollable behavior.
