Portrait of a wolof woman wearing the traditional head dress. The Gambia, 2020
The fishing village of Tanji is a busy place were hundreds of fishermen in their colorful, traditional, wooden boats bring in their daily catch close to the shore. From here dozens of colorfully dressed women unload the boats and carry the fish in baskets on their heads to the impatient bargain hunters on the beach. The fish is gutted, cleaned and some even dried at location. This creates an intense overbearing smell that travels for miles up the coast. Tanji, The Gambia, 2020
