Htein Yaung now 90 years old started smoking her pipe at the tender age of 15 as a way to keep insects at bay whilst working the fields. Htein has spend all of her working life growing corn, beens and millet. Millet is widely used in Myanmar in the production of traditional wine. Chin State, Myanmar, 2017.
This is Om Shen a 38 year old woman from the Muun tribe. Om lives with her husband and 6 children in a hamlet outside of Mindat. When asked why she had her face tattooed, she explained that her friends encouraged her to do it. She remembers it being very painful and it took a whole day to have it done.
