Mongolians have reared goats for a long time. In 2009, they made up the highest number (19.3 million) of the livestock population. Mongolian goats are small in size but strong enough to climb cliffs and rocky mountains to reach the most nutritional plants. Main products are milk, meat, cashmere and kemp-hair. Goat meat is rich in protein with low fat. Nomads use goats meat to make dry meat (“Borts”) which is consumed in spring as well as a special meat named “Boodog”, and “Khorkhog”.
