Mr Shamurat is a 52 year old eagle hunter. He lives a nomadic life together with his family in the Mongolian province of Bayan Olgii. Mr Shamurat and his wife have one daughter aged 20, and two sons aged 15 and 13. He also owns 150 goats, 80 sheep, 14 cows and 30 horses. But his most priced possession is a large golden eagle which he uses to hunt for rabbit and foxes, as evidenced by the tatoo on his arm.
Mr Shamurat was born in a yurt, and has never known a different way of life. His parents were also nomads, but it was his uncle who introduced him to eagle hunting when he was just a boy. It quickly became his passion. Mr Shamurat is well known in the area for having won the national eagle hunting competition twice in Mongolia and once in Russia.
Sometimes in the winter when temperatures can drop below 40 degrees celsius, Mr Shamurat likes playing on his traditional Dombra.
