Mr Shamurat was born in a yurt, and has never known a different way of life. His parents were also nomads, but it was his uncle who introduced him to eagle hunting when he was just a boy. It quickly became his passion. Mr Shamurat is well known in the area for having won the national eagle hunting competition twice in Mongolia and once in Russia.
Sometimes in the winter when temperatures can drop below 40 degrees celsius, Mr Shamurat likes playing on his traditional Dombra.
Mr Shamurat's youngest son is taking after his father. During the winter he attends school in a small village high up in the Altai mountains. During the weekends he has time to practice and perfect the art of eagle hunting with his father.
